First Congregational Church of Akron is pleased to announce the addition of Antigoné Lowery as the Associate Minister.
In this newly created full-time position, Lowery will shepherd the First Church ministry to children and youth, extend visitation to elder homebound members, and assist the Senior Minister with general ministry functions.
“Antigoné is passionate about her love for God, and she cares deeply about ministering to people of all ages and from all walks of life. She is driven by a deep desire to love and serve others the way that Jesus did, with authenticity and selflessness. Antigoné is an exciting addition to our ministry, and to the greater Akron community,” shared Senior Minister Nanette Pitt.
Lowery earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Judson University in Illinois, and her Master of Divinity with honors from Alliance Theological Seminary in Manhattan, New York. While in Seminary, Lowery functioned as the Seminarian with the United Church of Spring Valley, in Spring Valley, New York, where she assisted with preaching responsibilities, pastoral care, and ministry to youth. Additionally, Lowery serves as a Chaplain Candidate (1st Lieutenant) in the Army Reserve and has previously served on active duty in South Korea and Ft. Hood, Texas.
