On Sunday, April 6th 2008, the first class of ten Stephen Ministers was commissioned at First Church.  They are:

  • Christine Becker
  • Kathleen Berg
  • Julie Brandy
  • Pat McKay
  • Linda Peshina
  • Kathleen Petsko
  • Ellsworth Poole
  • David Sarver
  • Ron Woodard

 

On Sunday, September 20th 2009, five new Stephen Ministers were commissioned at First Church.  They are:

  • Sue Ellen Campbell
  • Deborah Graef
  • Susanne Shoffner
  • Marcia Szente-McCarthy
  • Julia Zeber

 

On Sunday, November 13, 2011, First Church commissioned 4 new Stephen Ministers:

  • Tom Barnes
  • Joe Black
  • Bill Brandy
  • Diann Shields

First Congregational Church of Akron has brought  the Stephen Ministry to our congregation.  Stephen Ministry is a ministry in which lay persons called Stephen Ministers are trained and supervised to provide one-to-one caregiving to individuals who are grieving, in crisis, or experiencing other stresses of life's challenges.
