JOB OPENING: EVENT SUPPORT STAFF

First Church is looking for a reliable person to support our Sunday morning worship services, Wednesday evening faith enrichment programs, and other church events year-round.

The goal of this position is to support Sunday worship services and Wednesday faith enrichment programs. This position will be responsible for opening and closing the building and preparing clean and safe entrances by picking up litter, putting out signs, and shoveling sidewalks in winter. This position will also be available to assist members, guests and staff, prior to, during, and after events with building-related questions or needs, and will help guests find venues or events and/or direct their inquiries. Additional duties include equipment set-up and take down for worship services, dinners, events, and meetings (signs, chairs, tables, risers, lecterns), stocking restrooms, providing assistance with sweeping, cleaning, mopping before, during, or after events, and taking out the trash following an event. This position will also support, as necessary, food service and event-related tasks in the kitchen or dining areas.

The ideal candidate will be reliable and exhibit positive interpersonal skills, with an ability to multi-task and prioritize and display enthusiasm for the church and its mission.

Additional Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Reports to Facility Maintenance Coordinator. On-the-job training will be provided, as necessary. Pay commensurate with experience.

Required Hours:

  • Sunday mornings, 8am-1pm (including holidays)
  • Wednesday evenings September through May 5pm-8pm
  • Up to seven (7) evenings per year including but not limited to Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Christmas Eve

Additional Hours Available:

  • Various events requiring staff may occur throughout the year including but not limited to weddings, funerals, memorial services, and concerts

JOB OPENING: ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

The goal of this position is to work alongside the Senior Minister to ensure the smooth functioning of the programmatic life of the congregation, enhancing the ability of members to engage.

This position offers administrative and scheduling support to the Senior Minister and is responsible for Sunday worship handouts, managing the membership database, and coordinating volunteers and communication across a variety of platforms within the congregation. This position functions as the lead outside event coordinator, working as the liaison between the staff and the event leaders. This position is responsible for greeting visitors and callers, answering questions, and directing inquiries. Additionally, this position creates content and designs for social media platforms, mass email system, website, and a monthly newsletter.

The ideal candidate will exhibit strong organizational skills and computer design skills with an ability to multi-task and prioritize, exhibits positive interpersonal skills, clear oral and written communication skills, and enthusiasm for the church and its mission.

Additional Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • College-level degree preferred and/or comparable experience in events coordination, volunteer recruitment, or community organizing in a church or non-profit setting.
  • Computer design experience (Photoshop or InDesign)
  • Social media experience
  • Advanced computer proficiency — word processing, database management, spreadsheets, and presentations.

Reports to Senior Minister.

Salary Range: $30,500-$45,000 depending on qualifications and experience; plus medical benefits

Required hours: Monday through Thursday, 9am-5:30pm, Friday 8am-4:30pm. 

FLSA: Salaried, exempt

JOB OPENING: CHILDCARE WORKER

Mission: Create an affirming and safe environment where children are cared for and
nurtured and where the Christian faith is practiced and taught.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide care for infants and children on Sunday mornings (8:30am-12:30pm) and/or on other occasions for special worship services, church meetings, and fellowship events as needed.
  •  Provide hospitality and a warm welcome for prospective and returning families.
  • Ensure the security and safekeeping of all infants and children, including completing and filing all necessary paperwork and receiving and sharing information with supervisor and parents/guardians.
  •  Work cooperatively with other staff and volunteers.
  • Be responsible for keeping the childcare rooms clean and safe both before, during, and after shifts.
  •  Communicate facility problems, special building needs, or stock shortages to the Associate Minister.
  •  Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in childcare required.
  • First Aid and CPR certification, preferred.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and have complete mobility in work-related activities.
  • Dependable, responsible, and self-motivated. Must have regular timely attendance during stated or negotiated hours.
  • Ability for continued learning and skill development.
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and objectivity.
  • Understanding and enthusiasm for the church and its members, mission, and programs.
