Sunday Morning Children’s Opportunities

Childcare

Childcare is available for children ages 6 months to 4 years in our nursery during worship services. We have newly hired staff members to attend to your children in the nursery. All have proven experience in the field of childcare and underwent background checks. Children attending the nursery can be dropped off before service begins and picked up after. To register for the nursery program, please fill out this digital form and email it to Bobby Burtt.

Our philosophy of childcare is based on a holistic approach grounded in Matthew 19:14: “Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” We welcome all children and view them as whole members of our community. We seek to support their faith development and nurture their sense of God’s love for them.

Children’s Faith Adventures

Children ages 4 to 12 are invited to attend Children’s Faith Adventures during worship services. Each Sunday will feature unique activities and opportunities to grow in their faith alongside other children, guided by adult volunteers from our congregation. Children attending this program should accompany their parents or guardians to the worship service first where they will be dismissed at a certain point. Children will be returned to the worship space at the end of the service, or just before communion on communion Sundays. To register for the Children’s Faith Adventures opportunity, program, please fill out this digital form and email it to Bobby Burtt.

During the summer months, children of all ages are invited and welcomed to participate in worship with their families. Activity packets and snacks will be available. There is also a Family Room at the back of the Meetinghouse equipped with children’s toys and furniture, a rocking chair, a changing table, access to a restroom, and a speaker and large window so you can still see and hear the service.

Youth Sundays

First Church youth are invited to help lead Sunday worship services by offering the scripture readings, lighting the worship candles, offering a prayer, greeting attendees, and handing out bulletins. Contact Bobby Burtt, Associate Minister for Young Adults and Families with Children, bobby.burtt@akronfcc.org, to learn more and volunteer.
